The core of graphic design at SCAD is design thinking. This fundamentally creative process — thinking by doing — encourages students to see differently, shift focus, look from multiple perspectives, and realize how perception influences meaning. In addition, our advertising program has a progressive curriculum that includes digital, design, art direction, copywriting, typography and business strategy.

SCAD has large, vibrant graphic design department aligned with leading trends in emerging media. This position offers numerous opportunities to collaborate with other SCAD departments that are at the forefront of diverse fields. Our professional emphasis results in students who are ready to enter into businesses as trendsetting creative leaders. As a professor, you will develop and extend current industry collaboration choices within the undergraduate curriculum, meeting critical standards and expectations for the discipline and the industry.

You will be asked to articulate your vision of design education in the 21st century. We want to know how you will nurture professionals to be able to think strategically about branding and marketing, generate quality ideas rapidly and collaborate with peers and clients in a productive, high-energy environment. You should be able to encourage students to deliver content over a dynamic, fluid system.

This position requires the terminal degree in graphic design or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with college-level teaching experience, proven leadership skills, extensive industry experience and ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds. You must have a strong desire to share knowledge through experience and a willingness to teach a diverse student body.
