Senior Designer, UX

SUMMARY OF POSITION

NetherRealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc. seeks a Senior User Experience Designer to join the team behind the "Injustice" and "Mortal Kombat X" console and mobile games. The UX (Interaction) Designer will work with the Design and User Interface teams to develop Wireframes, Interactable Prototypes, and spearhead the testing of our game interfaces across mobile phones and tablets, as well as console. Our users are important to us and we need you to join our UI/UX team to help make sure that no button is ever misunderstood again!

NetherRealm has a strong history of developing solid action games and we’re on track to continue doing so. We value new ideas and hard work, however we’re also a game studio so there’s always a casual and fun environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working from Design Docs, create and iterate Wireframes/Prototypes.

  • Apply and recommend best practices for usability.

  • Internal/External Testing: Work with our Seattle Testing Lab to identify, create and help implement relevant user testing that will better inform our design direction.

  • Work with Engineers to build in-game grayboxes.

  • Assist Visual Artists in translating wireframes/prototypes into functional screens.

  • Develop Personas and User Scenarios.

  • Interface with key stakeholders to communicate and present testing and research findings and recommend best practices for improved usability.

  • Help develop the project flow.

  • Present the interactive prototypes to team for feedback and iteration.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.

  • 5+ years of UX Experience.

  • Experience designing for mobile (iOS, Android, Windows Phone)

  • Previous mobile app or game development experience preferred.

  • Prior experience in launching consumer apps or games.

  • Proficient in Axure, Balsamiq, or other similar tool to communicate your design thinking.

  • Knowledge of User Patterns and how to use them.

  • Experience creating User Flow Documents.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • You are a resourceful problem-solver.

  • Passionate about video games

  • You thrive on collaboration and are empathetic to the user, understanding their needs and behaviours.

  • Portfolio of previous projects that shows process, iterations and executed state.

  • Ability to work well in a team development environment.

  • Extremely detail oriented.

  • Strong desire to design industry-leading game systems and ship the highest quality AAA games.
