 Animation Studio Manager


The Animation Studio Manager is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to the animation department, students, faculty, and staff who use the technology in the academic computing facilities within Founders Hall on the Oakland campus. These facilities include, but are not limited to, the Hybrid Lab, Founders computer labs (#101, #306, #307, #308, #309), the sound booth, and Nahl Hall. Additional to technological support and facilities’ maintenance, the Animation Studio Manager partners with the Animation Program Chair in organizing program events/lectures and building the program’s community. The Animation Studio Manager is a member of the Educational Technology Services (ETS) staff and works with other members of ETS to maintain an optimal computing learning environment. He/she is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware and equipment in Founders Hall to support the Animation Department’s needs, as well as troubleshooting/support for animation and multimedia software and related hardware, including printers, scanners, audio, and video equipment. The Animation Studio Manager will work closely with ETS, the Animation Program Chair, CCA Faculty, Academic Affairs, and the CCA community to maintain a safe and functional learning environment.


Frontline Facilities & User Management - 50%

- Partners with ETS and the Animation Program Chair to prepare and support the Animation Department’s usage of the computing facilities in Founders Hall.

- Provide direct user support and troubleshooting to students, faculty, and staff on the use of desktop and portable hardware, peripherals, computer systems and software in Founders Hall. This includes the computing spaces in Founders 101, 304, 306, 307, 308, 309, sound booth, and Nahl Hall.

- Install, configure, deploy, and maintain hardware devices, such as lab workstations, wacom cintiqs, printers, cameras and other related hardware as used in the Founders Hall computing environments.

- Partners with Animation Program Chair, Animation Program Manager, and ETS to manage the Animation program budget.

- Partner with Animation Program Manager and Animation Program Chair to Organize and coordinate the Animation Program events, lectures, and exhibitions.

- Coordinate and plan the Annual Animation Show. Work with student submissions, edit/arrange the show’s content, schedule/reserve/promote the event, test and prepare the technical needs for the exhibition, organize the décor, food & beverages.

- Assists the Digital Tools instructor to accommodate the technological needs and demands of the Interface Show, which occurs on the Oakland Campus each semester.

- Conducts lab orientations and training workshops for students and faculty in a manner that’s consistent with other ETS orientations and workshops.

- Maintain professional knowledge of technological trends in the animation industry and the arts through research, training, and attending higher education computing conferences.


Student Worker Management - 25%

- Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and managing a team of student workers. Ensures that student workers are trained and managed in a manner that’s consistent with other ETS student workers.


Planning & Documentation - 20%

- Partners with Animation Department Chair, Animation Program Manager, and ETS to develop the annual budget requests.

- Provide needs assessment and recommendations for the configuration and setup of the Founders Hall academic computing facilities.

- Serve as instructional resource to reinforce classroom instruction, including the creation of instructional materials as supplemental resources to students and faculty.

- Updates and maintains workflow documentation for CCA RenderFarm.
