Department: Digital Studio

Reports To: VP, Digital Studios

Status: Exempt

Class: Full Time, Staff

Salary Range: $110,000-$135,000/annum

NOC: 2011-5131 - Outsource Producer


Purpose of the job:     

Oversees the production and management of all external visual effects production

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the outsource production pipeline and workflow, working in conjunction with vendors and internal Producers and Supervisors
  • Oversees the daily operations of the show Outsource team to ensure efficient flow of work between multiple facilities
  • Supports the sourcing and approval of vendors, including training and due diligence with the Head of Studio
  • Coordinates the legal and financial management of vendors, executes NDAs, manages the drafting and execution of contracts in conjunction with client’s legal department, ensures timely invoice payment conditions are met in conjunction with the Digital Domain Finance team
  • Manages the preparation of bidding packages and ensures vendors have all information required to formulate their bid
  • Works with VFX Producer to review bids and manage facility show costs
  • Coordinates the day to day running of the contracts ensuring good communication between companies is maintained and provides external vendors with all information required to keep to the contracted production schedule
  • Tracks asset review and deliverable schedules in conjunction with the show Production team; bringing together data from multiple sources and providing timely feedback on outsourced asset status to the team
  • Identifies potential issues in advance, facilitates problem solving, and maintains the momentum required to keep the outsource vendors delivering shots on schedule
  • Creates weekly status reports outlining outsourcing status for VFX Producer, VFX Supervisor and Executive team
  • Supports the creation of an outsource reference and information database that will act as the main outsourcing hub for Studio
  • Remains up-to-date on all aspects of internal production management
  • Acts as escalation point for conflict resolution and all show-related outsource issues
  • Trains and mentors outsource Production staff and provides feedback for end of show  performance appraisal process; participates in show post-mortem           

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in film, art, communications or related field
  • 7+ years experience in production management or supervisory role for feature film visual effects required

Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:  

  • Enthusiastic and self-driven individual, with a genuine interest in developing partnerships with external vendors
  • Strong understanding  of the client/customer relationship and experience in working with subcontractors and building effective working relationships
  • Available for international travel to visit key vendors, particularly during the on-boarding and training stage alongside show supervisors
  • Demonstrated organizational, project management and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within budget and timeline constraints in a high pressure environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict
  • Possess strong documentation skills including a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required; experience with production tracking software and database management a plus

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:  

  • Office working environment.
  • Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours pending production needs.
  • Walking/bending/sitting.
