Purpose of the
job:
Pipeline Technical Directors are responsible for improving the
overall efficiency of the facility-wide production pipeline. They design,
implement, and manage tools that assist the digital artists with their daily
use of both third party and in-house software and systems. Pipeline TDs work
with peers and supervisors to craft novel tools, techniques, and procedures
to aid the execution of current projects and advance the capabilities of the
Facility. The role requires strong technical and communication skills, as
well as a firm understanding of software design, graphics, and production
work. The Pipeline Animation TD focuses efforts on the tool set in and around
the Animation Department.

Essential
Functions/Responsibilities:
- Work with other TDs and artists to help
design and craft tools to be integrated into Digital Domain's existing
pipeline. These tools will be created using a combination of custom and
commercial Python and C++ APIs, with a focus on Maya, our primary animation
platform.
- Work with Animation Department
Representatives to augment their work flows and tool sets to achieve goals
set forth by Department and Technology Leadership
- Work with the Global Pipeline
Supervisor and Global Production Technology Supervisor to assure that
approaches comport with the overall Technology goals of the company
- Work with animation artists to
troubleshoot and fix problems
- Craft and
update documentation for relevant tools, techniques and workflows

Education
and/or Experience Required:
- 3+ years experience as an Animation
Technical Director
- Degree in Computer Science,
Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience
- Practical knowledge of Python strongly
desired, knowledge of PyQt a plus
- Expert in Maya
- Proficiency in Maya’s Python and C++
APIs
- Experience
with Nuke and/or Houdini a plus

working environment
- Hours for
this position are based on normal working hours but will require extra hours
pending production needs
