Manager of Production Technology

This Position is for a Manager of Production Technology, focusing primarily on Linux infrastructure systems support. However, this Position will operate in a heterogeneous environment, including Linux, Macintosh, and Windows. As a core member of the Systems Administration team, this Position will be expected to participate in maintenance, administration, troubleshooting, and building systems in all of these platforms. We anticipate growth over the next year and this role will need to facilitate with the addition of key technology, rendering and technical support. 

While the Position will be primarily focused on servers, centrally controlled systems, deployment of services to end users, and planning and management for current production, this Position will also be expected to provide support and to collaborate with all members of the Systems Technology, Media Services, and Production Services teams to ensure smooth operations and stability of the environment in support of the facility's digital entertainment production. This also would include the support of active Directory, TCP/IP Infrastructure, e-mail systems, outsourced/SaaS/cloud-based system, security, and storage, and, in all environments, server installations and service provisioning, workstation imaging, application installation and deployment, and other core corporate/application network services) The position will be responsible for administration and monitoring, as well as upgrades and migrations. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing, corporate servers and installed software. 

• Supports infrastructure maintenance and upgrades and data management for Active Directory, including LDAP integration of Linux and Macintosh systems. Supports integration and domain migration projects. 

• Provides installation, configuration, management, upgrades, and support for core systems such as e- mail, pipeline automation, antivirus protection, and so on.

• Administers, supports, and maintains CentOS 6.4 through 6.7 environment, KDE 4.3.4.

• Develops, supports, and maintains scripts for administration, automation, update, and configuration of client platforms and servers. 

• Provides support for Systems Technicians.
• Provides support to Pipeline & Software engineers.

• Supports networking, storage, and other infrastructure projects.

• Maintains and deploys operating system patches and updates.

• Administers and updates workstation and laptop images.

• Monitors software usage and inventory.

• Monitors render queue usage, including status, efficiency, reporting, and upgrade paths and all show projections.

• Validates patches, applications, new software version releases against existing system images.

• Documents system installations, configurations, policies and procedures.

• Coordinates and participates in multi-site operations, implementations, and other projects.

• Support and maintain Video Conference systems.

• Support and maintain data plans such as Aspera/Ftp,VPN etc.

• Test and implement new hardware and software systems; participates in technology analysis for future changes.

• Defines and successfully executes projects 

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required:

- A Bachelors degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent work experience.

- 10+ years Systems & Software architecture background

- Knowledge of coding standards; C++, C#, Python, Perl a plus.

- Knowledge of Visual Effects, Ride Films a plus.

- Excellent management & communication skills with local and international teams are essential.

- Experience with Cloud rendering implementations & management.
