CARBONATED BACKGROUND
We’re
a mobile entertainment studio based on the Westside of Los Angeles and only a
15 minute walk to the beach. Our founders are veterans who’ve honed their craft
over decades of industry experience including senior leadership roles at EA,
Sony, Zynga & Blizzard. We’re currently hard at work on Racing Rivals --
the most exciting racing game on the market where you put it all on the line
for pinks.
We’re
looking for other driven and talented folks who love building product as much
as we do. Experience matters, but that’s only part of what makes someone
a critical part of the team.
SUMMARY OF ROLE
An
experienced Art Director with a passion for enthralling audiences and whose
high-end 3D expertise in games, film or other visual mediums has stood out in a
meaningful way. This person shares similar professional values around gameplay,
technology and creativity, and wants to define the visual aesthetic of multiple
projects as well as the creative culture of our studio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define
and ensure a high level for the art quality of the studio
- Manage
and mentor the other artists to help maintain the high quality level
- Work
with leadership and Designers to understand project vision and objective
- Help
drive sprints and run daily standups & reviews with artists +
outsourced art teams
- Help
build a robust art pipeline to ensure timely deliverables
- Identify
potential risks and mitigation solutions for the art team
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion
and high standard for game art production
- 5+
years of experience in game, film or other visual companies
- High
level understanding of art and development practices
- Shipped
multiple titles in the Art Director role
- Strong
leadership and communication skills
- Capable
of full spectrum of art production requirements: concept design, modeling,
rigging, 3D animation, environments, characters, VFX, lighting,
performance and memory optimizations, 2D and 3D art pipelines, UI design,
icon design, etc.
- Highly
proficient with 2D and 3D game development tools: 3DS Max, Zbrush, Maya,
Adobe Creative Suite, Painter, etc.
EXTRA CREDIT
- Car
game experience a massive bonus, car enthusiast a major plus
- You
like working on a small teams that work fast and iterate often
- Working
in a cool building in a sleepy nice town near the beach sounds like fun
- You
like bikes, dogs and/or kids
