Creative Director UX/UI, VR Platform and Apps

Purpose of the job:        

Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship for a small team of UX/UI designers; lead creative and holistic thinking across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices.

Contribute to the overall vision and user strategy for VR apps and platforms, from research, concept exploration, information architecture, visual design, through implementation, working closely with project and product management, UX/UI designers and software engineers to build designs.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that actualize the larger vision over time
  • Design, direct, and clearly communicate compelling designs and concepts expressed through sketches, sitemaps, wireframes, visual designs and potential prototypes cross platform – responsive web, mobile, and VR applications
  • Rationalize and justify design work clearly; advocate for users’ needs
  • Translate business requirements into use cases and high-level consumer or client experience requirements
  • Design and provide architecture and visual documentation for white-label apps
  • Quickly plug and play, getting up to speed with the platform data model, tools, client offerings, and flagship experiences
  • Partner with project and product managers, engineers, designers, and QA to see our projects through from concept to ship and beyond
  • QA, review, and submit issues to ensure implementations match original designs

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in UX Design
  • 3+ years experience managing or leading design teams
  • BA/BS degree in Design (i.e. interaction, graphic, visual communications), related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in interaction design, user-centered design methodologies and usability
  • Strong communication skills: Able to tailor knowledge transfer to executives, clients, partners, engineers, and designers
  • Excellent time and project management: Ability to juggle multiple high priority and high profile projects simultaneously
  • Must be self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project deadlines.
  • Experience designing and shipping design experiences for multiple device types
  • Experience in interaction design, user-centered design methodologies and usability
  • Portfolio of UX-focused work samples for multiplatform experiences – responsive web, mobile, and VR applications
  • Proficient with industry standard design tools (i.e. Sketch, Adobe CC, and Zeplin)

  • Familiarity with designing UX/UI for VR Applications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong appreciation for type and pixel perfection
  • Advocate for well-informed user experiences backed by efficient, relevant data points
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:  

  • Work from home, make your own schedule
  • Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but will require flexibility for managing live event or customers based in different time zones
  • Walking/bending/sitting
