About Us

cView Studios Ltd. is a boutique art outsourcing studio located in Malta, a beautiful, sunny and English speaking place to live in with a climate that is listed in the top three worldwide repeatedly.

Founded recently by game industry veterans with 30 years of experience in game development, cView is already working on well known AAA properties and is expanding its in-house team, looking for  3D generalists with team leading experience.

Job Description

The Lead Artist will be instrumental in artistic and workflow related decisions, coach teams of internal and external artists to reach their maximum potential and will still have some time to create key pieces of artwork themselves.

Our core team of game industry professionals is still a small group, so this is your chance to influence the workflow and company culture of cView.

 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in technical and creative decision making and problem solving.
  • Manage and monitor teams of internal and freelance artists.
  • Review assets and provide technical and aesthetic feedback.
  • Scope and time estimate assets in all workflow stages.
  • Model and texture high quality props and characters from concept art and being able to push the visual quality in a given style.

 

Qualifications

Very important:

  • Portfolio showing strong skills as a Hard Surface Modeler.
  • Track record of significant contributions to at least two shipped AAA titles.
  • Mastering modeling techniques to create high quality models fast and ability to teach these efficient methods to other artists.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.

Important:

  • Good understanding of ZBrush.
  • Exceptional understanding of game development pipeline, asset optimization and familiarity with asset management / version control software.
  • Excellent texturing skills with good understanding of PBR theory and practice.
  • Higher understanding of Maya / Max, Photoshop, Substance Painter / Designer or Quixel.
  • Portfolio showing high quality organic pieces and character work.
  • Some planning experience.

Plus:

  • In-depth knowledge about baking with Marmoset 3.
  • Experience with outsourcing workflows on the client or vendor side.
  • Management and project management experience.
  • Rigging and skinning experience.
