Cinematic Pipeline TD (LAYOUT)

Description

Blizzard Entertainment's cinematics team is seeking an experienced pipeline technical director (TD) to support and develop our layout workflow. This pipeline TD will work closely with layout artists to design and improve processes, build tools, and provide technical support. The layout pipeline TD should have a broad knowledge of tools and workflows currently used in the CG / VFX industry, as well as direct experience with digital asset management and pipeline tool development. The ideal candidate will also be an excellent communicator who can help facilitate the flow of information between layout, technology, and the other artistic teams.

This is a full-time position at our office in Irvine, California

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for layout artists.
• Maintain existing layout tools and develop new tools as necessary.
• Manage layout team's tech priorities.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in developing pipeline tools and workflows in a CG production environment
• Expert knowledge of Python and object oriented programming practices
• Expert working knowledge of Maya
• Strong understanding of the CG production process, from asset creation to final compositing
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Strong desire to function in a technical support role

Pluses

• Knowledge of current industry layout practices, techniques, and technologies
• PyQt / PySide development
• Experience with a variety of camera tools and workflows
• Renderman, Nuke, and / or Houdini experience
• MEL scripting
• Maya plugin development
• Experience with Pixar's USD file format
• Shotgun production management software
