We’re seeking a Senior Pipeline Developer to join the Umedia Vancouver team.

  • Are you familiar with best practices for collaborating to build a stable, clean, adaptable pipeline?

YOUR MISSION

  • To be an integral part of designing and building the VFX and Finishing pipelines.
  • To help define and enforce robust coding standards and best practices for a long-term stable and adaptable software development.
  • Support Supervisors, Production teams and artists by developing and integrating tools to meet immediate production needs.
  • Balance supporting short-term pipeline needs with longer-term research and development.
  • Research existing 3rd-party applications and present pragmatic assessments weighting up the costs and advantages of integrating existing solutions vs in-house development.
  • Take part in code reviews by submitting your own work and giving constructive feedback to others.
  • Mentor and inspire junior developers & TDs.
  • Take ownership of your own work, priorities and schedule while being understanding of the big picture priorities of the company.
  • Report to, advise, and collaborate with the R&D Manager. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 7 years experience as a developer in VFX and/or animation.
  • A Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expertise in C++, python and Linux shell scripting.
  • A strong familiarity with Shotgun.
  • Experience working with render farm software.
  • Familiarity with common VFX applications (Maya, Nuke, RV, Houdini, Mari), and their APIs.
  • A good understanding of file formats, LUTs, and other technical aspects of the VFX workflow.
  • A disciplined approach to naming conventions, documentation, familiarity with versioning and use of code repositories (Git preferred), and other development best practices.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are a resident of Canada and you are legally permitted to work in Canada.
