Pipeline Supervisor

Pipeline Supervisor

A Pipeline Supervisor will oversee the smooth running of a VFX pipeline, and undertake any pipeline development tasks required. Collaborating with senior technology and production leadership to support and enhance Double Negative’s global pipeline, by maximizing investment in global pipeline development efforts and reducing show risk and waste. You will have a broad knowledge of VFX and Feature Animation film production techniques and technologies, that covers as many areas of 3D as possible, as well as proven development experience, and a proven history in relevant supervision roles.

 

Needs to Do:

  • Collaborate with show leads and supervisors to design technical solutions to complex production problems.
  • Break down pipeline and tool development projects into development tasks and assigns them to the team of ATDs and Pipeline TDs.
  • Supervise show pipeline and tool development, providing leadership on architecture and methods.
  • Ensure the scalability and reliability of show-developed tools.
  • Partner with CG Supervisor and R&D/Pipe to address show-specific pipeline needs.
  • Ensure effective communication between Leads, Supervisors, Pipe, R&D and the show's pipeline team, as well as make sure critical information is shared across shows.
  • Conduct code reviews of tools developed by Pipeline TDs.
  • Provide mentorship for ATDs and Pipeline TDs.
  • Vet artist requests for new tools.
  • Facilitate the hand-off of new tools and pipeline improvements at the end of production.
  • Make recommendations and provide solutions to improve quality, efficiency, and workflow.

 

Must Have:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior or Lead Pipeline TD.
  • 5+ years experience with large-scale visual effects pipelines.
  • Experience planning large projects and forecasting show needs.
  • Expert level understanding of the Visual Effects pipeline.
  • Ability to establish priorities, multi-task efficiently, and work with diverse personalities and all levels of creative and technical staff.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with Python and PyQt.
  • Expert level experience with the APIs and use of Maya, Nuke and/or Houdini
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities with proven ability and experience supervising teams.
