User Experience Designer

Description

SCAD seeks a UX designer to develop and create effective, engaging and memorable user experiences to enhance the university’s online course offerings.

In this role, you will work closely with writers, instructional designers, media designers and subject-matter experts to design, develop and augment the usability and interactivity of SCAD eLearning courses. In collaboration with the media design team, you will research, develop and test new interactive features and experiences. In addition, you will review new and existing course interfaces to ensure they serve students’ educational needs. Working with the leadership of eLearning, you’ll identify and implement new technologies that expand and enhance the learning opportunities of SCAD students.

The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional communication skills, especially in regard to articulating design recommendations, and has the ability to design aesthetically pleasing interfaces based on user research and information architecture. Successful candidates will have experience in interaction and functional design of digital environments and products, leading design production and working in cross-disciplinary teams. You should have a minimum of five years of design experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Experience with at least one learning management system, preferably Blackboard, and familiarity with instructional design principles are preferred. You should have a strong portfolio of work that includes all areas of usability experience, engineering and design; prototype development for user testing; and ergonomics analyses, from flows, wireframes and documentation to final graphical display. Familiarity with source code versioning systems such as Git as well as the ability to develop and maintain custom dynamic data visualization systems are essential.

Requirements:
? Bachelor’s degree in UX design, human-computer interaction, computer science or a related field; master’s degree preferred
? Five-plus years of experience in web 2.0 design and technologies, XHTML/CSS/JavaScript and scalable vector graphics
