Lead 3D Character Artist

Have you been waiting for the chance to be a Character Artist on an action / strategy game that’s not a MOBA? Want to work with a team that publishes their own IP and controls their own destiny? Well you’re in luck, because Trendy Entertainment, developer and publisher of Dungeon Defenders 2, is looking for a Lead 3D Character Artist that fits that bill!

We own our IP, so we pretty much get carte-blanche to make big changes to our games as we see fit. That’s the core of the work surrounding Dungeon Defenders 2, but we’re also planning to develop some new IPs, and you’ll help us kickoff our next great game.

As the Lead Character Artist, you will take ownership of the character asset pipeline, developing stylized characters, enemies, and NPCs. You will be working with the Art Director and Concept Artists to define the look and feel of in-game characters that work well within the game environment at the highest quality possible.

  • Work with Art Director to establish visual targets that fit within the look and feel of the game.
  • Provide support for characters including the creation of technical and artistic specifications and pipelines for Character Art assets.
  • Demonstrate, communicate and exemplify clear expectations for quality of work, productivity, communication and professionalism to the team.
  • Create stunning 3D characters that are both technically efficient and beautifully rendered.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business and project needs.

 

Requirements & Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in game development as an artist specializing in character modeling using Max or Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush or Mudbox, and 3D-Coat (or comparable programs).
  • Expert-level understanding of next generation asset creation pipelines and tools and working with character animation and rigging workflows and techniques.
  • Experience working with an Art Director, Concept Artists, Designers, and Tech Artists developing a unique and cohesive modeling and texturing style for characters while staying within budget and time constraints.
  • An exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy with a solid grasp of form, structure, color, texture, proportion, and relative scale.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work efficiently within a team.
  • Have shipped AAA PC or console titles in a Character Artist position.

  • Authorized to work in the US

  • Be willing to relocate to Gainesville, FL
