Facial Motion – Head of Department
Description
Weta Digital's Facial Motion Team has contributed to bringing some of
the most memorable creatures and characters to screen in recent years, pushing
the boundaries of photorealistic facial performances and technology. This is an
exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in that team, contributing to
high profile upcoming Feature Film projects.
Applicants should be passionate about creating compelling facial
performances, working at the cutting edge of facial animation and capture
technology. Working with the Motion Capture, Animation and Facial Modelling
teams, the successful applicant will help define the specification of facial
puppet rigging and standards as well as working with and supervising the
assignments of the specialist Facial Motion artists.
Minimum requirements and skills:
- 5+ years experience in facial animation on Feature Films.
- Proven ability to analyse, understand and supervise facial
performances.
- Excellent understanding of facial anatomy and FACS (facial action
coding system).
- Experience working with motion capture data in facial animation
production.
- 10 years industry experience or proven exceptional abilities.
- Well developed organisational and management capabilities.
Pluses:
- Experience working with facial capture systems.
- Onset experience in feature film production.
- Experience with FACS capture and recording of actors.
- Character and Creature animation skills.
- Working with FACS based facial rigs.
- Experience building blendshape based facial animation and motion
capture rigs.
