Lighting TD- Feature Film Production

Hasbro/Boulder Media is building a new feature animation division for its new owners Hasbro Entertainment. We are excited to offer talented artists the opportunity to join our very successful and established animation studio as we expand into a new area. We will be producing the first CG theatrical feature film made entirely in Ireland. The movie is based on a very well-known Hasbro property and we can’t wait to bring it to the big screen for the first time.

Lighting TD

The Lighting TD works under the supervision of the Lighting Supervisor.  He/she is responsible in developing and building the Lighting workflow and Pipeline. He/she will need to assist artists with day to day issues and technical direction with varying levels of troubleshooting. He/ She will need to write helpers and pipeline tools to support the lighting and composition teams.

Responsibilities

• Able to troubleshoot rendering and lighting technical issues, including scene optimisation.
• Develop and support tools to facilitate and optimise Lighters day to day tasks.
• Establish best practices for the workflow and pipeline.
• Develop best practices for specific or recurrent problems.
• With the assistance of the Lighting Supervisor and the pipeline team set development priorities and ensure that reliable solutions are available for the team.
• Mentor and guide lighters when required.
• Maintain good team dynamics.

Person Specification

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent in 3D computer graphics experience.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience as Lighting TD, in a film production environment or visual effects.
• Proficiency writing tools in professional packages in python (Maya, Nuke,Katana etc).
• Experience with PBR renderers and feature quality FXs.
• Experience with xgen.
• Excellent knowledge of MAYA / KATANA.
• Excellent Knowledge of NUKE (or similar).
• Knowledge of an asset manager as SHOTGUN is a plus.
• Be comfortable with a LINUX / UNIX environment is a plus.
