Description
The School of Art seeks applicants for a full
time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Art to teach a range of animation
courses from a menu of beginning to advanced classes. Appointment will begin
August 2018.
The School of Art at Ball State has forty-nine
full-time faculty and offers state-of-the-art facilities serving over 500
undergraduate majors as well as a growing graduate program. Programs at the BA,
BS, BFA and MFA levels include animation, art education, art history, ceramics,
drawing, glass, metals, painting, photography and intermedia arts, printmaking,
sculpture, and visual communication (graphic design). Housed in the Art and
Journalism building, School of Art students enjoy over 57,000 square feet of
world-class facilities, a nationally ranked animation program, the Atrium
Gallery, and the Glick Center for Glass. Students and faculty work closely with
David Owsley Museum of Art on campus, among the finest university art

Duties
and Responsibilities: Teach a range of animation courses from a
menu of beginning to advanced classes in the School of Art.
Minimum
qualifications: Master of Fine Arts degree from accredited college or university by time
of appointment or eight years of documented experience in the animation
industry. A record of scholarly/creative
productivity, expertise in 3D modeling, texturing, compositing, animation and
other time-based and 2D applications. Proficiency
in Autodesk Maya.
Preferred Qualifications: Undergraduate
and graduate level university teaching experience, experience with simulation
(hair, fur, cloth), experience with scripting (Mel, Python), knowledge with
rigging in Autodesk Maya. A significant exhibition record or professional
industry work experience, knowledge of the history and criticism of the
electronic arts, ability to convey the relationship between technology and
aesthetics, and the ability to work collaboratively within the University and
School.
