Job Summary

Torpedo Pictures is a small boutique VFX (Visual Effects) studio located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.Established in 2013, our studio offers highly collaborative and creative solutions for the Film and Television industry. Since our inception, we have been involved in several notable films and television show, such as Scandal, Suits, Covert Affairs, Shadow Hunter and The Expanse to name a few. Our studio is currently seeking an enthusiastic Jr. VFX Compositor to join our team. As a Compositor you will be working on the most complex and demanding shots of a production project, therefore you must possess a high degree of artistic and technical skills to seamlessly construct final images by combining layers of previously created material, including rendered computer animation, special effects, graphics, 2D animation, live action and static background plates.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Reviewing the senior graphic designer's instructions;
  • Producing and assisting in developing and producing design concepts;
  • Capturing elements such as titles, text, drawings, illustrations, graphics, lettering and colour harmonization, using a computer;
  • Producing computerized images and drawings with 2D and 3D elements, to create seamless and realistic effects;
  • Digitizing images using peripherals and transform them using retouching systems, graphic palettes or specialized software;
  • Performing the layout, page make-up and placement using the conceptual mock-ups provided;
  • Producing proofs and camera-ready materials and preparing film and any other prepress materials;
  • Painting or inking individual cells of 2-D or 3-D animated drawings according to animator's specifications using an electronic palette; and
  • Laying out, drawing or painting letters, figures, logos and designs for windows, advertisements, billboards, vehicles, books and publications using specialized software or painting equipment
  • Working in a multidisciplinary environment

Qualifications and Skills

  • A solid understanding of how to use a computer and manage files;
  • A strong working knowledge of the following software: Foundry's Nuke, Autodesk's Maya and Adobe Photoshop. Knowledge of related software packages is a plus;
  • A related background in Matte Painting, Lighting, Photography and/or Traditional Art;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Designers, Artists, and fellow teammates;
  • Ability to work well within groups;
  • An intimate knowledge of Artistic principles, including composition, colour, texture, and use of light; and
  • Skillfully able to seamlessly integrate visual effects into various desired environments.
  • A education background in visual effects is considered an asset

Education

  • certificate or diploma related to Visual effects Art.

Work Experience

  • 1-2 years work experience in Visual effects.
