CONCEPT ARTIST

Description

We are currently hiring concept artists to work on our current and future narrative projects. We’re looking for concept artists that can deliver both rapid sketches and highly polished inspirational images to help drive development of our games and inspire the team.

Here at Deck Nine Games we are focused on three passions; meaningful stories, gorgeous visuals and rich gameplay. We are currently in development on Before the Storm, a sequel to the hit narrative game Life is Strange as well as other narrative projects. We are a growing studio of 60+ located near Boulder, Colorado.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the creative directors to rapidly sketch core gameplay, environment and narrative ideas.
  • Work with the studio Art Director to create polished “wow-moment” images that capture the spirit of the games to inspire the team, the publisher and eventually the fans.

Qualifications:

A high quality portfolio that demonstrates the following:

  • Strong artistic style and design sensibility
  • Understanding of human anatomy, form, proportion and scale
  • A portfolio link showcasing your highest quality artwork

About Deck Nine Games

The story of our studio actually began many years ago. Founded in 1997, the studio focused on innovative PlayStation 1 games including the hit snowboarding series, CoolBoarders. For the next twenty years, the studio grew with the industry, ranging far and wide, but always building a reputation for innovative technology, gorgeous artwork and compelling gameplay. For the past four years, Deck Nine has been focused on creating dramatic narrative games with meaningful stories that fans love. We are currently developing Before the Storm, the sequel to the hit game Life is Strange.

Artistically, our focus is on creating interesting environments that tell a story, atmospheric lighting that catches the eye and attractive characters delivering nuanced and subtle performances. 

Our award-winning team is comprised of a blend of artists from games and film. Our studio is located in Westminster, Colorado, USA - at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Our location near Denver and the mountains offers a wide mix of activities ranging from the urban to the backwoods.
