Character FX Artist

Cinesite Studios Vancouver is looking for a Lead Character FX Artist to join us on our creepy and kooky animated theatrical feature film, The Addams Family!

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for one or more of the following areas: rigging dynamic simulation in Maya; groom fur/hair; OR run cloth, hair, fur shots.

• Execute cloth, hair and fur shot works with artisticity and within scheduled time frame.

• Proactively looking for ways to improve current practices and efficiency.

• Troubleshoot CFX related Issues.

• May help mentor entry level artists.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3+ years working with Cloth and Hair/Fur in high-end 3D animation/VFX productions as a Character FX or Creature artist.

• Proficiency with nCloth and/or XGen in Maya.

• Works well under pressure and deadlines and deliver requests with quick turn-around.

• Take direction well.

• Can handle shots independently.

• Have artistic eyes for cloth and hair dynamics and the look of fur.

• A broad understanding of rigging terminologies and geometry topology and deformations.

• Problem solver, capable to find solutions for wide range of technical challenges.

• Good communication skills.

• Positive attitude and team player.

• Open to new ideas and new practices.

• Worked with Katana and/or RenderMan is a plus.

• Yeti experience is a plus.

• Houdini experience is a plus.

• Scripting in Mel and Python is a plus.
