Jr. Concept Designer (Project Hire)

Lucasfilm Animation and creators of the Emmy award winning animation series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the highly successful animation series “Star Wars: Rebels” are looking for a versatile Jr. Concept Designer to join their production team.

The Jr Concept Designer will work within the Design Team as part of a broader production network, to create design deliverables for production use.

Responsibilities

• Digitally draw and paint design sketches and final illustrations of set pieces, props, and some characters.
• Create deliverables as per the specifications of design packaging.
• Utilize 3D software to modify and create hard-surface geometry, to be used as base for final design render and scale check.
• Work to strict production deadlines as scheduled by the department production team.
• Meet the Supervising Director and Art Director’s aesthetic requirements on final designs.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years professional experience required, preferably in a production studio.
• Strong understanding of anatomy and perspective required.
• Demonstrated ability to draw props and characters from multiple views.
• Fluency in Adobe Photoshop required.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Maya required.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of flexibility, collaboration, and confidentiality.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, communication, and follow up/follow through skills required.
• Critical thinking required, with ability to effectively problem-solve artistic issues.
• Ability to work efficiently within a high-pressure, fast paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.

Preferred Education

• Degree in concept art or design.
