Unreal Lead Developer

Description

The Mill is looking for a Lead Developer for its team working in VR, AR and interactive experiences. You'll join a multi-disciplinary company of artists and technologists who have made beautiful, award-winning, moving image for film, TV and experiential spaces for 25 years.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Develop tools, pipeline and workflows for utilizing game engine technology for VR, AR and other interactive platforms
  • Work on optimizing performance and improving render quality in game engine.
  • Work closely with the R&D and CG teams to integrate game engine tools into existing VFX pipeline
  • Collaborate with in house live-action & VFX teams to solve for unique issues around building successful real-time effects for custom platforms, e.g. stereo VR, experiential spaces, etc
  • Work closely with artists and production to help scope and bid upcoming projects
  • Provide technical supervision and support on multiple projects to hit deadlines
Requirements:
  • High level experience with Unreal Engine and/or Unity3D with proven lead role on 2 or more shipped titles
  • Experience optimizing and refining game engine performance
  • Fluency in C++ and/or C#
  • Computer Science, Computer Graphics based degree or commensurate years of professional experience
  • Deep understanding of content & technical pipeline
  • Excellent physics and mathematics skills
  • Solid software engineering skills; ability to write maintainable and robust code
  • Experience using version control systems
  • Able to self-direct and comfortable with rapid prototyping and iteration
  • Able to think creatively outside the box
  • Experience of working in interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate under tight deadlines
  • Strong time management & organization skills
