Lead Character FX Artist

Cinesite Studios Vancouver is looking for a Lead Character FX Artist to join us on our creepy and kooky animated theatrical feature film, The Addams Family!
The Lead Character FX Artist must be proficient in at least one of Hair/Fur groom plus simulation rig, or Cloth rig. This person should be well experienced in all areas of CFX; with 5+ years production experience; and 3+ years in CFX. They should also have a thorough understanding of the animation production pipeline, motion dynamics and animation. The Lead CFX Artist will be leading one or more areas of CFX on a daily basis, and will be reporting to the CFX Supervisor, who oversees the entire department.
Responsibilities: - Rig nHair simulation to drive XGen hair/fur
- Rig complex cloth setup using Maya nCloth system
- Troubleshooting CFX pipeline issue
- Mentor other team members
- Help to build and maintain CFX pipeline
- Proactively looking for ways to improve current practices and efficiency.
- Proactively dealing with any kind of tasks and issues may occur during the production in your covered areas on daily bases.
- Writing technical documentation when necessary
Skills and Requirements
- 5+ years of experience producing high-quality CGI content and effects
- 3+ years of experiences directly working in CFX department on high-end CG feature animation or VFX in films.
- Thorough understanding of Maya file structure and animation/VFX production pipeline.
- Proficiency in Hair Groom using XGen in Maya or other grooming tools. XGen preferred.
- Proficiency in Hair simulation using Maya nHair
- Proficiency in Cloth rig and simulation using Nucleus
- Skilled in rigging and deformation
- Good understand of motion dynamics
- A collaborative team player and problem solver with excellent technical and artistic communication skills
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
- Scripting skill is highly desired
- Worked with Katana, RenderMan, Houdini is a plus
