Rigging Supervisor

Description

The Rigging Supervisor is responsible for the smooth running of the rigging pipeline on our shows, working closely with the Rigging team and other studio Supervisors. This will require maintaining existing technology, integrating third-party technology, and designing and implementing all-new, proprietary technology. This is a large role which surrounds many departments and disciplines, including: modeling, shading, character FX, (including hair/fur, cloth deformations), animation and lighting.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining existing Rigging pipeline as well as creating future strong, reliable and efficient Rigging tool-sets

  • Maintain a professional working relationship with the existing rigging and animation teams

  • Be able to facilitate and elaborate solutions with other supervisors for different cases during the shows

  • With help of production team, elaborate and manage the rigging department staff and schedules

  • Manage rigging team software and tools development

  • Supervise assets deformation quality as well as providing feedback on models topologies with the help of the rigging lead.

  • Work closely with the Development/Pipeline supervisor in order to publish/deploy code as prescribed

  • Follow the creative direction process in order to evaluate the feasibility of assets during the production

  • Help riggers evaluating best techniques to employ while creating specific animation rigs


Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with at least 2 years on feature films or similar projects

  • Solid knowledge of rigging

  • Proficient with Autodesk Maya production software

  • Provide reel, demonstrating both control systems and complex deformations

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills required

  • Excellent understanding of anatomy, structure, and character motion

  • A strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work under demanding environment

  • Python and Mel programming is essential

  • Maya API, C++, object oriented programming is a plus
