Head of Production Tech
Description
The candidate should have a broad base of knowledge of both systems administration and the visual effects production pipeline, along with experience of managing a department and budgets. The key focus of the role will be to support, develop and extend the existing pipeline while providing guidance to the hardware team. You will have a deep understanding how artists interface with their software, and how data flows through the production process.

Main responsibilities will include:
- Discussing pipeline requirements with other HODs and artists.
- Developing new pipeline tools for both 2D and 3D.
- Examining the existing pipeline and improve/re-develop where needed.
- Maintaining existing pipeline tools.
- Providing guidance to the hardware team.
- Managing production tech budget and expenditure.
- Ensuring security compliance with vendor requirements/recommendations.
- Installation, support & maintenance of workstations, servers and file storage.
- Ensuring infrastructure runs smoothly and reliably.
- Planning for expansion and future technical requirements.
Key attributes:
- 5 years experience in R&D within the VFX industry.
- Excellent at solving problems, diligent and resourceful.
- Good communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Experience leading a small team.
- Knowledge of C++ is not required, but would be an advantage.
- Experienced at configuring and managing Linux, Windows and OSX workstations/servers.
- Able to work well and communicate effectively with others in a team
