Associate Chair of Computer Art

oin SCAD as the associate chair for computer art.

In this role, you will develop curriculum and assist the department chair in evaluating professors through class observations and reviews of student evaluations, service and professional development, and contributions to departmental goals. You will also teach classes annually, as assigned.

In consultation with the chair, dean and department members, you will develop a strategic plan for the department that is consistent with the goals of the School of Digital Media and overall SCAD strategic plan. With the department chair, you will provide vision and leadership for the liberal arts department and provide professional development opportunities for professors.

Additionally, you will foster interdepartmental collaboration, enhance the reputation of the university’s computer arts department in academic and professional circles, and recruit talented undergraduate and graduate students to SCAD.

The ideal candidate is able to motivate students and faculty of diverse backgrounds to think creatively and critically. A minimum of three years of experience instructing at the college level is required, and university-level administration experience is preferred.

Across three continents and online, SCAD curates digital design coursework through advanced learning resources and cutting-edge technology to ensure students advance their knowledge and practice as they prepare for creative careers. General education courses in technology proficiency and digital fluency provide the foundation for majors in specialized art and design disciplines. The numerous recognition of SCAD students from the Adobe Design Achievement Awards, Clio Fashion and Beauty Awards and Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) College Game Competition is evidence of the rigor of their preparation for success in a world connected through technology and design.

Requirements:
- Terminal degree or its equivalent in advertising, broadcast design, graphic design, motion graphics, photography, visual effects or a related digital media or communication arts field
