DIGITAL MATTE PAINTER
(North Hollywood, CA)
CoSA VFX is seeking
experienced Mid-level and Senior Digital Matte Painting
Artists to work on high profile television shows and feature films.
Our company is a fast-paced and highly collaborative production environment.
Recent projects include Westworld, The
Orville, Gotham, and The Gifted as well as a full slate of prominent television and film
projects. Successful CoSA DMP artists create photo
realistic images, elements or textures that match into live action footage or
can stand alone on tight timelines in a variety of genres.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years’ experience working as a
matte painter in episodic television, games or feature film
- Experience
utilizing 2.5D Nuke Camera Projection techniques
- Strong knowledge
of photography, with a strong sense of artistic composition
- Ability to implement fast, effective
solutions to shot production challenges
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Construct photo-real environments, set-extensions and
backgrounds for integration into live action footage or stand alone
- Enhance or alter lighting,
perspective and color as needed for integration and mood.
- Create concept
art / mock ups.
- Work closely
with VFX Supervisors and Creative Directors to ensure matte paintings meet
any concept design or client requirements
- Work
collaboratively with CG and Compositing teams to ensure shots are
delivered to expectation
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expert and up-to-date knowledge
of Photoshop.
- Knowledge of 3D software (e.g.
Maya, 3DS Max, Modo) and proficiency with Nuke compositing tools
- Traditional arts
background with an emphasis on photo-realistic work and environments a
plus
- Experience working with Vray
and/or Redshift rendering software a plus
- Experience with texturing and painting
software such as Substance and Mari a plus
