Executive Writer

Description

SCAD seeks an executive writer to support the university and interests of the president and the executive office.

In this role, you will work on a variety of projects for the executive office, including event remarks and quotes for the president, op-eds/bylines and talking points, and potential questions and responses for published and in-person interviews with SCAD guests. You will contribute to communication needs leading up to and during events and work with the university’s creative direction department to ensure visuals match remarks. Additionally, you will attend rehearsals, facilitate presentations, capture the voice of the SCAD president quickly and accurately, and assure the president is well-versed on all events and occasions.

Other projects include SCAD books, the catalog and the President’s Report.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of creative storytelling, strategic thinking, quality writing, and excellent research and fact-checking. You should have the ability to effectively organize and manage concurrent and urgent projects, thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Preferred experience includes writing or ghostwriting for major publications and outlets, writing for the highest executives in an organization, and professional knowledge of higher education or the creative disciplines taught at SCAD. Experience conducting research to inform a range of topics related to projects and assignments is required, as are the abilities to proofread and edit with speed and accuracy and respond positively to feedback.

Maintaining positive relationships with subject matter experts across the university is essential in order to effectively collaborate on projects as needed. Some travel is required for this role.

Requirements:
— Bachelor’s degree
— Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word
