Research Scientist for IoT

The challenge

Adobe is looking for a research scientist to investigate and prototype next generation experiences for our customers utilizing Internet of Things (IoT), sensors, cameras, mobile devices and physical designs. You’ll be leveraging your strong computer science and computer systems background along with physics, signal processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and especially deep learning techniques. As a Research Data Scientist, you will research and develop conceptual and practical models for real-world physical environment layouts along with novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the start of art of understanding customer experience, sensing of actions, understanding customer intent, inventory placement, physical layouts, to experience personalization and business optimization. You will leverage Adobe’s unique data sources and customer relationships which include not only content (such as images, videos, texts), but also how the customers interacting with those contents (such as media touches, click streams, customer responses, conversions) from various verticals (retailer, financial services, healthcare and etc.) in both B2B and B2C contexts.  

What you’ll do

Identify research opportunities and define the problems through collaboration with customer account management, product management, engineering, and data science groups.
Perform research, build prototypes/demos, write research papers/reports, submit patents, present research results.
Collaborate with product management, engineering, and data science groups to transfer the research outcomes to products and professional services teams so that customers will be impacted by your inventions.
Required Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant majors with research specialization in IoT, experience design, HCI, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, or natural language processing.
Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Python, R, Java, Scala and C/C++
Familiar with one or more deep learning frameworks, such as Spark, Tensorflow, Keras, Caffe, Torch.
Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving ability.
Demonstrated track record of innovation and creativity in the IoT and Machine Learning domains
Excellent communication, relationship skills and a strong team player.
Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience of applying deep learning techniques to computer vision and IoT sensor networks is strongly preferred.
Experience of working with very large data sets.
Strong publication records in relevant areas
