Pipeline Studios is looking for skilled and passionate Sr Technical Directors to join its growing team.
As an industry leader, Pipeline creates some of the most innovative projects currently on the market, delivering over 1500 minutes of high-quality content per year; credited to our solid reputation in the global industry. Pipeline Studios has produced some of the most exciting CG, 2D and custom hybrid digital productions coming out of Canada in the last several years. Along with developing our own IP for global distribution, our current clients include NBC/ Universal, Netflix, Disney XD, Discovery Nickelodeon and Nelvana.
Responsibilities
Create/maintain/enhance production pipeline, ensure efficient workflows between all departments, and provide technical support to artists and fellow technical/IT teams
Responsible for the technical integrity and publication of all assets and required workflow processes
Responsible for render/comp and delivery of final frames to Post and/or client
Responsible for maintenance/augmenting of existing production scripts and creation of new/requested scripts.
Foresee and flag any potential production issues that may affect deliveries and find sustainable solutions
Ensure delivered frames have animation and design revisions completed and assist with quality control (continuity, line-work, updated assets, etc.)
Assist in brainstorming ways to make production and tools more efficient
Author, update and maintain in-house documentation
Handle initial scene creation and run scripts on all shots to avoid file set up on every shot
Changes the duration of scenes in Harmony/Asset Tracker when called by Director/Client and updates audio. Reconcile any differences between our asset management system and the final project file to ensure smooth deliveries
Conduct and mediate postmortems with production teams to further improve future productions
Train and support artists in using pipeline tools
Support and troubleshoot technical production issues (failed renders, delivery issues, Harmony issues)
Handles all TD related retakes in animation
Learn and work within our proprietary asset management system
Qualifications:
Very strong experience in a Toon Boom (Harmony, Storyboard Pro)
Excellent troubleshooting, communication and reporting skills both verbal and written
Leadership skills are an asset
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adapt to ever-changing production requests
Maya/Photoshop/ and node-based compositing software experience an asset
Maya asset integration into Harmony scenes an asset
Key point person in keeping production on schedule & provide updates to Production Coordinator & Directors/Producers
Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through in a fast-paced environment
Experience in 2D and/or 3D animation process an asset
Maintain a positive, upbeat and professional attitude, with the ability to collaborate with multiple teams within tight deadlines
Minimum 3 Years of 2D/Harmony or 3D experience in either a TD or production role
Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, PHP and MEL is an asset
Knowledge of Harmony and asset creation within Harmony required
Strong knowledge of 2D and/or 3D rigging and geometry, texture mapping options, and character setup
Strong understanding of the 2D and/or 3D production pipeline
Experience node based compositing such as Nuke an asset
Proficient in Maya, Mental Ray and other rendering software is an asset
Strong interest in Animation Industry and emerging tools/related products
