Virtual Art Department Asset/Environment Supervisor

We are looking for a Virtual Art Department Asset/Environment Supervisor for the Avatar sequels. This position is to supervise a team of asset builders and environment layout artists who create a very detailed template of scenes that will be turned over to a vendor for final completion.  This will require supervising the creation and refinement of assets and environments through previs, performance capture, virtual cameras, and live action simulcam camera, all while meeting turnovers deadlines.  The Supervisor must be able to communicate both creative and technical notesStrong presentation and communication skills are needed to present scenes to the Director, VFX Supervisor, Production Designers and other various Supervisors.

Ideal candidates will need strong design, layout, storytelling, camera and composition skills.  A positive and inspiring attitude to meet the challenges of virtual production and to lead a team is a must.  Must be able to learn and adapt to new tools and workflows as we are working at the forefront of virtual film production.  Candidates should be able to evaluate tools, workflows and artists with an eye to finding where efficiencies can be implemented.

Experience working within a real time engine/game engine is also a plus.

This is a long term project. Ideal candidate will commit to multiple years of work.

Candidates must submit a reel of their work along with their resume.

Candidates must be US citizens or Permanent Residence (Green Card) holders.

Required:

·       At least 1 year experience supervising a group of 5-10 or more artists.

·       Flexibility; this is a dynamic production environment.

·       Strong organizational skills

·       Ability to give and follow technical and creative direction.

·       Desire to mentor and inspire less experienced artists.

 

Preferred:

·       Experience working in virtual production.

·       Experience working on a large scale VFX film.
