Hangout Industries is seeking an Art Lead to provide creative vision and lead the development of high quality and polished art for a 3D environment. This position is responsible for managing the creation of assets both internally and externally, as well as contributing as an active developer of assets. The Art Lead must handle the full lifecycle of asset creation including; receiving art requests, conceptualizing needed assets, managing the art pipeline to ensure smooth and efficient asset production, and ensuring that every asset created meets our standards both technically and artistically. Finally, this position should foster and build a culture in the studio for artistic excellence and high levels of productivity.

Responsibilities:
• Adapt and maintain a pipeline for the creation of art assets that incorporates work created both in-house and through outsourcers.
• Work with members of the artistic team to implement processes and tools to ensure highest levels of productivity and quality.
• Spearhead conceptualization for the creation of assets
• Take on many of the high-quality 3D art asset development tasks; primarily modeling and texturing and/or animations.
• Communicate the artistic vision to ensure a high level of quality and consistency in all art assets
• Work with the artistic team to bid out and designate tasks; create, evaluate and revise art schedules to ensure that scheduled milestones are being met.
• Provide direction and feedback to outsourcers, ensure that all assets developed externally are being properly received, and maintain and create new relationships with outsourcers
• Work with the technical artist and the programming team to understand and communicate technical limitations as well as finding the best approaches to implementing the artistic vision
• Research and evaluate tools and programs to enhance art assets
• Contribute innovative and original ideas
• Mentor all members of the art team to develop and expand their artistic skill sets
