Sony PlayStation: Senior Developer Support Engineer - Project

We are seeking a mid- to senior-level Developer Support Engineer. Interested applicants enjoy coding and collaborating with others to resolve technical issues, and want to develop expertise near the boundaries of cutting-edge hardware platforms. Previous experience in professional game development, working at the hardware level, is required.

Ideal applicants understand the need for developer support, enjoy working in a technical environment, find a sense of accomplishment on helping others, have an appreciation for the technical aspect of game development, and would enjoy helping other game programmers via e-mail, forums, phone, on-site and at industry conferences.

Responsibilities:
• Investigates and resolves complex platform problems by applying and expanding expert knowledge of design principles, procedures, and practices; maintains problem status and problem resolution records.
• Prepares reports on problems encountered and common methods of resolution; reviews reports proposed by less experienced staff.
• Interfaces with platform development, production, and QA staff on reliability and maintenance matters. Synthesizes feedback concerning licensee requirements into the platform development process to ensure that our platform capabilities remain responsive to licensee needs.
• Assists in the development and delivery of training to internal and external groups.
• Responsible for the design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of new and upgraded software. Executes implementation according to project plans and priorities. Engineers may develop a range of products including sample code, device drivers, test harnesses, libraries, complex tools, etc.
• Provides visibility into activities for peers and peer groups.
• Travels as necessary to fulfill responsibilities.
