Digital Asset Librarian

Description

The internal Marketing Communications/Graphic Design department at Apple is recruiting an experienced Digital Asset Librarian. The department maintains over one-half-million long-term image assets, and generates thousands of images per month, comprising hardware, lifestyle and environmental photography, software screens, user interface elements, brand identity graphics, third-party iTunes content, and stock imagery. The Librarian's duties include setting up asset catalogs and systems, organizing large volumes of rapidly changing images, creating and enforcing naming taxonomies and metadata schema, tagging files with relevant and accurate metadata, insuring dependable and rapid worldwide distribution to hundreds of users 24 hours a day/7 days a week, creating documentation, defining image workflow, and training users.

Responsibilities
• Set up and configure new and existing DAM systems and modules
• Organize asset catalog structures
• Create effective metadata schema
• Enter and validate metadata
• Generate naming taxonomies and glossaries
• Define worldwide marketing image workflow
• Enforce corporate security procedures
• Create documentation of workflow and asset system
• Train users
• Insure dependable and rapid access and distribution to worldwide Apple staff, vendors, and design agency partners
• Verify version control of files
• Track rights usage and expiration
• Provide notification of system status and file availability
• Assist in development of asset management system with internal IT team
• Collaborate intensively with dozens of people in diverse roles, including Image Traffic, Imaging, Traffic, Business Affairs, Creative and Production staff
• Filter, organize and migrate pre-launch assets to long-term asset catalogs
• Interact with vendors and agency partners to improve systems, train users, and transfer image assets and reference material
