Sony PlayStation: System Administrator

The position performs system administration duties for a group of machines on which development, test, and deployment of a custom web application takes place. The position is expected to collaborate closely with the developers of the application to make good use of web technology to deliver a best-of-breed support portal tailored for software engineers who are making games for the PlayStation family of computer entertainment systems. This individual will have responsibility for maintaining and optimizing an environment that will keep the development group and deployed sites functioning smoothly. This individual has experience using Linux and other open source technology to support the delivery of services to a demanding audience.

Responsibilities:
• Keeping all deployed systems in a reproducible and securable state.
• Ensuring all volatile data is regularly backed up and restored.
• Tuning software services for maximum scalability.
• Troubleshooting and fixing services that aren't performing properly.
• Deploying new systems and services as needed.
• Planning for and responding to service or network outages.
• Light scripting/programming for automation of common tasks and configuration operation.
• Problem-solving of all kinds.
