JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Santa Monica, California-based Ascent Media Group, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ascent Media Corporation (Nasdaq: ASCMA), which provides creative and technical services to the media and entertainment industries. We are seeking a DI Smoke Artist for our Santa Monica, CA location.
Job Summary:
The roll of DI Smoke Artist is to manage the completion of a feature film’s digital editing process from start to finish, including the conform and any last minute VFX fixes that may be requested.
Job Duties:
• Liaison with Production editorial department to obtain EDLs and Offlines of movie to be conformed.
• Assemble specified reels and cross reference scanned shots against the production supplied offline.
• Ensure all information from the production edit is closely matched including repositions, speed changes, titles, if needed and or dissolves at the designated resolution and aspect ratio.
• Assemble VFX imports on an alpha numerical time line and export a corresponding sequence to create VFX VTs for editorial use.
• Meet requests to correct shots which contain obvious errors including blemish fixes for actors, scratch and wire removal in which the DRS department cannot handle and light compositing.
• Interact with production editorial to ensure the correct information is passed along for Co3’s needs as well as feature editorial’s needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Job Requirements:
• 3 years operating Discreet products.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, i.e. staff meetings, employee reviews, reporting, etc.
• 2-3 years working with all video tape formats. HD and SD.
• Working knowledge of File import / export from ftp, DVD's, Firewire, LTO3 and SCSI raid drives.
• 2-3 years Feature film post production experience.
• Experience with PC and MAC platforms.
• Capable of developing effective relationships with clients, vendors and staff.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Able to prioritize and meet departmental goals.
• Ability to work under the pressure of multiple deadlines and changing task priorities.
