Lead 2D/UI Artist - San Diego, CA

Sony Online is looking for an experienced, highly motivated and effective Senior/Lead Artist with traditional 2D illustration and in UI visual design expertise

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Creates 2D digital paintings and other elements for mini games
• Creates UI and Interface elements
• Assets created set high visual quality bar
• Works with Senior Producer to establish match of game style with design objectives
• Provides artistic and visual direction to establish and maintain consistent art style
• Responsible for directing and mentoring small art group in creating game assets, this can include both internal and/or outsourced artists
• Ensures that assets are delivered at high quality and in accordance with the approved game style, technically sound and completed within the scheduled timeframe.
• Provides problem solving input to asset creation and workflow refinements
• Creates and maintains visual style guide and ensures all art adheres to it
• Stays informed on new developments in mini games and social network gaming
REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience and demonstrated talent in both traditional 2D illustration and in UI visual design
• Expertise in Photoshop
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the video game development process
• Demonstrate traditional art skills and creativity
• Experience in developing and managing small art groups
• Expertise in arts/design, and a demonstrated ability to direct, mentor and enhance the efforts of a creative team
• Solid problem solving ability with strong collaboration and influencing skills
• ‘Facebook’ style game creation experience desired

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Four or more years experience with at least three product cycles (or equivalent).
• BFA or equivalent experience
