Summary:  In September 2007 I began work at Flight 33 with the mandate to build and manage a CGFX department to produce the visual effects and computer graphic animation for the company's HD cable television epsiodic series. Within six weeks I took the CGFX department from an empty room to a staff of 12 with our first episode of THE UNIVERSE in the can. Over the next 19 months I lead the team, which peaked in December 2008 with five simultaneous projects in the works. At this time I managed 2 CG supervisors, 2 comp supervisors, an artistic crew of 30 and 2 coordinators. I interfaced daily with the cgfx staff, post-production department supervisors and editors, show writer-directors, producers and the executive producers. At peak production we were delivering about 20 shots a day. I vfx supervised and produced CGFX for 30 episodes of the UNIVERSE, 12 episodes of SCITREK, 7 episodes of SEVEN DEADLY SINS, the special FIRST APOCALYPSE, and 6 episodes of LIFE AFTER PEOPLE. In addition to planning and procuring to meet the department's technology needs, I handled department and episodic CGFX budgeting, hiring and CGFX labor management, workflow and pipeline development and adjustment (to meet constantly changing needs), developed low-cost yet effective collaboration solutions, established CGFX policies and procedures, developed quality control-approval pipeline and mentored and trained supervisors and artists. Creatively, I met with director-writers-producers to discuss key story points to be visualized and worked with them and my staff supervisors to design cost-effective and visually impactful solutions. I provided artistic leadership to supervisors and staff artists through individual guidance and instruction, group instruction and personal hands-on examples and involvement in daily production. I conveyed artistic objectives of executives to the staff and through a series of email letters worked to raise staff awareness in issues of artistic quality and professional efficiency.
