The UCCS College of Engineering & Applied Science(EAS) is seeking applications for a full-time Instructor position in ComputerScience, ideally starting Spring 2024 though a Fall 2024 start will beconsidered. This position will teach undergraduate courses includingcross-listed courses in the Department of Computer Science as assigned by thedepartment chair. The typical course load for an instructor is 24 credit hours(8 courses of 3 credit hours each) per academic year. This instructor position will teach gamedesign and development courses and other related computer science courses thatare necessary for game design and development degrees and specializations.
Other activities include:
Curriculum development including the development of newcourses
Guiding undergraduate students in independent studies
Developing and teaching online courses
Advising undergraduate majors
Participating in College and Departmental committees andmeetings
Other as assigned by the Chair of the Computer ScienceDepartment

Job Competencies:
To be successful in this position, the employee will needthe following:
Knowledge: An understanding of how game engines (forexample, Unity, GameMaker, and/or Unreal Engine) are used to develop games. Ifthe employee doesn’t have the requisite knowledge to teach an assigned class,they should be enthusiastically willing to acquire that knowledge.
Ability: The ability to develop games using Unity todemonstrate those activities in the context of college courses. The ability tomanage student teams of game developers as they design, produce, and deployvideo games.
Talents: A strong motivation to develop games, teachstudents how to develop games, and explore new ideas and technologies as thefield of game development evolves.
Work Location: On-site
This position has been determined to be exempt from theovertime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
What We Offer:
Salary Range: Generally starting at $70,000 - $73,000 peracademic year

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in game design and development, computerscience, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four months teaching experience at the college level.
Experience teaching one or more game programming coursesat the college level.
Experience teaching one or more game design courses atthe college level.
Development and deployment (selling or providing forfree) of one or more video games.
