Position Details
The Department of Film,Animation, and New Media within the College of Arts & Letters at TheUniversity of Tampa seeks a dynamic candidate with diverse teaching expertisefor a tenure- track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2024.
The University of Tampa is amedium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of morethan 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The ideal candidate is anexcellent teacher who holds an MFA or other relevant terminal degree inanimation or a related field, with teaching/research interests in 3D and 2Danimation teaching and practice.
Qualified applicants should beproficient in 3D modeling and animation, using industry standard tools (Maya,Blender, Cinema 4d, etc); should maintain interest and skill in other animationtraditions such as 2D, stop motion, experimental forms, etc; and must beexcellent teachers, engaged in fostering both creative training and technicalskills development in students. The faculty member should also be interested indeveloping curriculum in the Animation BFA, and be interested in expanding theAnimation program. The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to excellencein teaching and developing engaged artists, and maintaining an active creativeoutput of their own.
Other desired skills mayinclude any of the following: skills in rigging for animation in 3D; experiencewith motion capture; 3D sculpting; 3D lighting and virtual camera; compositingand digital effects; interest in game development and gaming environments (suchas Unreal or Unity); and/or interest in virtual production.
