TheBass School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology (The Bass School) at TheUniversity of Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position ofAssistant Professor of Instruction (non-tenure track) in Animation & Games.The Bass School at UT Dallas is a multidisciplinary academic research schoolwith leading-edge programs in animation, games, visual and performing arts. Weseek candidates with a record of accomplishment in animation and games to joinour faculty.
Preferencewill be given to candidates who have experience in the animation or gamesindustry with a focus in either game design or level design. A strong emphasisis placed on candidates who have technical expertise using game engines (likeUnreal or Unity, or other equivalent) to build games and demonstrate anunderstanding of modern industry workflows and practices. The ideal candidatewill have experience in shipping AAA games and be available to begin in August2024.
Essentialduties include teaching four courses in the fall semester and four courses inthe spring semester at the undergraduate level (with the possibility ofgraduate level courses), mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, andcontributing to public-facing programming.
Theappointment commences for the fall 2024 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: A BA in animation,game development, computer science, or a related academic discipline along withextensive industry experience is required prior toemployment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to workeffectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environmentcomprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives.We are seeking candidates able to deliver highquality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage studentsfrom a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education andExperience: An MFA or PhD in animation,game development, computer science, or a related academic discipline along with relevant industry experience.

The Animation andGames Area in The Bass School at The University of Texas at Dallas is one ofthe top programs in the state of Texas.
