Senior Artist, UI

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The WB Games development studio in Chicago currently has an opening for a Senior Artist, UI. The Senior Artist works with a variety of team members to help design, create, implement and optimize UI assets for Console and/or Mobile game titles. They are responsible for maintaining high visual fidelity, competitive aesthetics, logical menu flow, and presenting game information in a clear and understandable manner. The Senior UI artist must work with industry standard and our own proprietary tool set to ensure a high level of fit and finish to all UI elements. A strong understanding of UI/UX principles is a must. Working with Art Directors, Producers and Game designers, the Senior Artist will help design and shape the visual and functional aspects of the game’s interface needs. This may also include UI workflow optimizations and developing new techniques for visual display and information presentation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and create UI components - menus, stats and inventory screens, in-game HUD elements, etc.
  • Assist the UI programmer in the implementation of UI components.
  • Collaborate and communicate with art directors, game designers, producers & programmers in the creation and implementation of the game UI.
  • Contribute to the design of UI tools and processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Motion Graphics, Graphic Design, Industrial Design or equivalent work experience as a User Interface artist.
  • 3 – 6 years console, PC or online gaming industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of UI/UX design and the ability to generate design ideas.
  • Previous experience with mobile and/or console gaming.
  • Extensive experience with 3D and 2D art tools and authoring tools like Flash and Photoshop.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills.
  • Strong traditional art skills a bonus.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and redo/iterate work until it's right.
