CG Texture Artist Intern

General Summary

LAIKA/Entertainment’s CG Texture Artist Intern will gain valuable hands-on production experience and training by working 40 hours a week in collaboration with our skilled professionals.

 

Essential Job Functions

·     Develop, create and/or utilize reference photography source material to generate photo-realistic surface textures for use in a cg environment.

·     Create and maintain texture and displacement maps for character, prop and set assets for integration within a scene.

·     Collaborate with Modeling, Look Development and Lighting TDs to ensure surface texture and displacement maps render properly, and to troubleshoot and resolve creative and technical issues.

·     Communicate effectively with production management, creative leads and technical support teams.

·     Meet deadlines as established by production management.

·     Actively safeguards LAIKA’s Proprietary and Confidential Information.

 

Qualifications

·     Completed his/her Junior year, or has graduated within the last two years, with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Computer Science, Animation or other relevant area of study and/or equivalent job experience.

·     Knowledge of applicable software platforms, including Photoshop, ZBrush and Mari, as well as Maya and Nuke, preferred.

·     Experience working with advanced surface types, and comfortable with a variety of rendering environments, such as RenderMan and/or Maya.

·     Experience working with Modeling and Shaders, a plus.

·     Traditional painting skills and familiarity with digital matte painting techniques preferred.

·     Good problem solving skills.

·     Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

·     Openness to taking direction and ability to embrace change.

·     Strong attention to detail, communication skills, a great attitude, and work ethic.
