Department Chair - Audio Technology Program

SAE is seeking a Department Chair for the NYC Campus.   The role of the Department Chair is to administer the designated program on a practical day-to-day and strategic long-term basis. All aspects of the program’s operation and success fall under the Department Chair’s purview, including oversight of academics, retention, faculty, technology, facilities, and student satisfaction.

The Department Chair reports to the Director of Education and supervises the instructional staff for the designated degree and diploma program(s).

Qualifications

·       A master’s degree is required for schools offering an associate or bachelor’s, a bachelor’s degree for schools offering a diploma      

        program.  Exceptional professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

·       A minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience

·       A minimum of three (3) years experience as a teacher and/or academic administrator

·       Proven leadership skills

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Teach at least one course per semester and fill in for other teachers as necessary

·       Recruit, train, support, supervise, and evaluate instructional faculty

·       Ensure that academic objectives are consistently met

·       Conduct in-class observations of instructional faculty on a regular basis

·       Establish teaching assignments and provide schedules to the Director of Education

·       Coordinate and document professional development programs

·       Develop and maintain positive workforce attitude

·       Ensure effective implementation and assessment of all academic policies and procedures

·       Participate in the National Curriculum Review Committee, if requested, to Review and revise curriculum, focusing on industry 

        trends and the job market

·       Implement company approved standard curriculum in all courses

·       Support, monitor, evaluate, and refine the educational process to ensure optimal delivery of approved curricula and an excellent   

        student experience

·       Evaluate, refine, and archive course syllabi, web resources and materials (tutorials, Keynote/PowerPoint presentations, LMS  

        content, etc.)

·       Work with the National Librarian to develop programs, identify needed resources, recommend additions to the school’s holdings, 

        and ensure academic integration with the Learning Resource Center

·       Maintain accurate student and department records; provide regular reports of academic metrics

·       Assess and report on the facilities, equipment, supplies, and space used by the program; conduct necessary research to ensure 

        relevancy of technology

·       Participate in budget development and implementation

·       Oversee inventory and distribution of supplies

·       Remain current with technology, industry trends, and educational techniques

·       Actively promote SAE on campus and in the community, taking part in open houses and other events

·       Ensure that programs are delivered in compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements

·       Coordinate and host Program Advisory Committee meetings

·       Conduct regular department meetings and keep minutes on file

·       Schedule seminars and/or workshops relevant to course curriculum

·       Coordinate and evaluate academic advising and support of students

·       Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Education and/or Campus Director
