Professor of Visual Effects

Description

Visual effects artists are masters of illusion, creating believable images that are impossible or impractical to shoot in the real world. Help talented students make their own unbelievable dreams a reality as a full-time professor in visual effects at SCAD Savannah.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate familiarity with the planning and execution of photographic elements for visual effects. These areas include script breakdown and detailed shot planning, essential camera operation, scene data collection, CG integration, miniature and forced-perspective photography, blue and green-screen photography, use of motion control technology, set protocol, and the planning and construction of special effects rigs for visual effects. Candidates will be familiar with current trends and technological developments in visual effects image gathering.

In this role, you will demonstrate expert proficiency in the following areas: photorealistic compositing within a node-based professional compositing environment (e.g. Nuke or equivalent); the integration of photographic elements with CG effects animation, characters and environments including script breakdown, shot planning and postproduction project management; and a working familiarity with current tools and techniques of the visual effects industry.

Requirements:

- Terminal degree or its equivalent in visual effects or a related field

- College-level teaching experience preferred

- On-set and location experience in a supervisory capacity strongly desired

Note: Only complete packages will be considered. An unofficial transcript of your highest degree awarded, cover letter, resume or CV, and portfolio are required. For the portfolio, you have the option to upload electronic documents/images, or a URL.
