Software Engineer - Shader Developer
Description
DreamWorks is looking for a passionate shader writer to join our award winning shading team. The shading team provides technical shading development and support for the lighting and surfacing artists of our feature film productions. In addition to creative and technical shader development, the shader developer also provides technical training to the artists, educating them in the best usage of the tools and bridging the gap between the technical details of shading and the intended use by the artists.
Job Responsibilities
- Create innovative shading solution to advance the look of our award winning films.
- Develop realistic but art directable materials and texture procedurals.
- Technical development focused on shading and look development.
- Work with Surfacing Supervisor on creating initial template material looks and documenting the workflow. This could also involve material templates for the studio standard material library.
- Provide shader usage and workflow training to production artists
Required Qualifications
- Solid experience with C++, Renderman Shading Language or OSL
- MS in Computer Science with focus in Graphics or Rendering,
- Knowledge of Renderman or another production renderer
- Solid understanding of rendering theory
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Passion for feature animation.
- R&D experience with Physically based rendering and shading
- Aware of state of art in BXDF research and production applications
- Experience with Matlab
- Knowledge of Renderman or another production renderer
- Excellent communication skills
- Surfacing and/or Lighting Experience
