Sr. GENERALIST

Description

Scanline VFX specializes in creating complex effects for high end feature film and commercials. With 25 years experience in the European VFX world, Scanline has now opened its Los Angeles and Vancouver facilities.

In 2010, Scanline VFX was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects for its work on director Clint Eastwoods Hereafter, which featured a tsunami sequence that TIME magazine called the most exciting, expertly assembled flood scene in movie history. Scanline VFX is well known for its proprietary, in-house fluid effects software Flowline, for which it received a 2008 Scientific and Technical Achievement Academy Award.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to execute a broad range of VFX tasks including look development, lighting objects, modeling, texturing, animation and rendering
  • Experience with 3dsMax software preferred, but will also consider Maya Generalist with a willingness to learn 3dsMax
  • Basic understanding of Max Scripting
  • Must be able to work under the guidance of a CG Supervisor or VFX Supervisor to achieve desired level of aesthetic quality and technical accuracy
  • Proven development skills
  • Strong sense of compositions, light and color

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • At least 5 years live action visual effects experience
  • Working knowledge the following software: V-Ray, Thinking Particles
  • Some working experience and knowledge of shader writing, and lighting 
  • Possess strong technical skills and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Experience compositing a plus
  • Solid knowledge of principles of 3D
  • Must have the ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned VFX Tasks
  • Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
