Storyboard Artist

Position: Storyboard Artist
Reports to : Head of Story / Director

Position Description and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director/ Head of Story to explore and develop the visual story.
  • Receive written and verbal instructions of a sequence from director / head of story.
  • Draw thumbnail sketches through to finished detailed storyboard panels
  • Self-manage timelines to ensure all sequences are cast, completed and submitted on schedule.
  • Revise, edit and modify sketches as indicated by the Lead Story Artist.
  • Illustrate script pages and come up with gags, jokes, and story ideas
  • Pitch storyboards to the director / head of story
  • Generate creative ideas that are entertaining and funny
  • Draw storyboards for scenes assigned
  • Assist with visual exploration, research, and/or creation of design (character/environments/props) as required by the story during visual development/pre-production
  • To work in adherence to budget and schedule constraints while maintaining continuity within the story, cinematography, aesthetics, mood.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to analyze script pages and translate into storyboard panels
  • Ability to express story and character through drawings
  • Ability to invent action and express it through drawing
  • Ability to present work in a clear and entertaining way
  • Able to prioritize appropriately and always meet deadlines.
  • Excellent teamwork – ability to work effectively with others.
  • Strong written & verbal communication – good at following directions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a deadline driven environment
  • Experience with Photoshop and Wacom Cintiq

Qualifications:

  • Experience in traditional 2D and 3D animation production.
  • Practical knowledge of cinematic language, acting and staging
  • Strong understanding of the principles of animation; emotion, acting, movement is required
  • 1-3 years feature film, TV, or DVD storyboarding experience.

Annual Salary : $55,000 to $80,000 - Based on experience
