OpenGL Software Engineer

Description

What you would do: Oblong's Solutions team builds immersive custom experiences that seamlessly knit together millions of pixels across multiple surfaces, screens, and interaction modes (touch, pointing, voice, etc.). Most other interaction programming is done in flatland or isolated 3D islands; we build interfaces at scale, in one unified frame of reference that is measured in meters rather than pixels. http://www.oblong.com/solutions/ gives a glimpse of our work.

In this role you would build Oblong spatial applications in C++ and OpenGL, helping us achieve large-scale visual effects that span GPUs and machine boundaries. You would bring the whole toolbox of modern OpenGL techniques to bear on making our custom applications distinctive and amazing. You'll figure out where the bottlenecks are in the best graphics hardware currently available, and find ways to work around them.

You have the ability to self-manage: you can take a small project from start to finish with little oversight. You have a demonstrated record of doing so.

You have strong communication skills and you have experience effectively working in a tight-knit team. You care about the artifacts you produce, both code and documentation, so you are happiest when your new solution to a problem is neatly packaged and ready for reuse by others.

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• Fluency in the modern OpenGL rendering pipeline and shader languages
• Fluency in C++ or other systems-capable language
• Minimum 3 years experience delivering production-quality code
• Ability to communicate effectively in English in writing and in person
• Proficiency in Linux

Benefits and perks:
• Competitive compensation package of salary and stock options
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan
• A healthy work environment -- no "work hard play hard" nonsense
• Opt in Gourmet lunch program 3 days/week
• Great location in the Arts District in DTLA
