Game Data Analyst, Monetization

We are looking to add an enthusiastic, talented and experienced professional with a passion for understanding users’ behavior through data.

NetherRealm Studios seeks a Data & Monetization Analyst to join our team. The Analyst will work closely with our development teams for the full lifecycle of a product. Working with the designers to create and refine cohesive game system and economic designs, with a focus on developing fun game systems that optimize player engagement, retention and conversion.

With experience in game development and a strong understanding of design mechanics, the Data and Monetization Analyst must be excellent at analyzing gamers’ behaviors and motivations at all points in their lifecycle, and have an understanding of all monetization models and major live event systems. 

The Data and Monetization Analyst must be comfortable working with large sets of data related to acquisition, engagement, and monetization. The Analyst will coordinate with game development teams, Business Intelligence, Marketing, Game Analytics, and Consumer Research to translate the results of data analysis into compelling designs that compliment and further elevate fun game experiences.

The Analyst will need strong communication skills and an ability to be a contributor working with a wide variety of internal departments. They will be comfortable with all levels of ownership, from hands on design to providing high-level guidance and feedback. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with game designers and producers through all stages of production to design and refine complimentary gameplay and economy systems for our games.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations based on industry leading best practices early in the design process.
  • Foster a strong relationship with game production and marketing teams to collaboratively influence game design, roadmap, and promotions in the interest of engagement, retention, and monetization.
  • Monitor progress by playing builds in development as well as reviewing ongoing player behavior reports and trends.
  • With strong analytical and mathematical skills, provide written and verbal assessments to help align internal departments and executive levels on the health of our economies.
  • Propose new features that will increase LTV of users while keeping the game fun and engaging.
  • Create and present competitor teardowns.
  • Explain shifts in F2P monetization dynamics, territory/region dynamics, and monetization trends, to executive team and game teams.
  • Brief the team regularly on key learning and new insights that can be applied across games.
  • Use data to help guide the team on merchandising, including running sales, pricing in-game items, balancing, and other adjustments to game play to increase LTV.
  • Assist the teams in effectively running live in game events, and advise on timing, pricing, and features.
  • Collaborate closely with the user acquisition team and analytics team to improve focus on high lifetime value customer segments.
  • Help script, maintain, and create automated processes for pulling and reporting data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • BA/BS Degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or Mathematics.
  • Minimum 1 year as a data and/or monetization design contributor or similar role (product, design, analytics, etc.) in the games industry, in mobile, PC, or consoles.
  • Expert knowledge of all types of monetization models.
  • Strong understanding of game and system design fundamentals.
  • Strong familiarity with mobile application ecosystems and operating systems like iOS and Android.
  • Must be comfortable reading, interpreting, explaining, and responding to data; background in statistics, data mining, or other quantitative discipline is highly valued.
  • SQL knowledge is a must; C++, Java, and HTML knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with BI and statistical software (Tableau, SWRVE).
  • Comfortable presenting complicated material to diverse audiences; strong ‘soft skills’.
  • Strong PC Skills, including proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
